For over 10+ years, Lois Campbell & Yates Daycare has been more than just a childcare center, it’s a home away from home where children are seen, known, and loved.
We believe every child deserves a safe, joyful space to grow academically, socially, and spiritually. Our dedicated teachers and caregivers partner with families to nurture confidence, curiosity, and character which is the foundation for lifelong success.
What started with a handful of children in a single Bronx multi-family home has grown into a network of three sites committed to excellence, community partnership, and child development.
Each day, we continue to build upon that dream — creating a legacy of love and learning that touches every child who walks through our doors.
We are dedicated to developing the whole child — intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically — through hands-on learning, purposeful play, and meaningful relationships.
We follow Creative Curriculum and Handwriting Without Tears, combining academic readiness with social-emotional learning, problem-solving, and creativity.
Every program, classroom routine, and family interaction is guided by one question:

With more than 15 years of leadership experience in early childhood education, Janet Yates has devoted her life to building spaces where children feel loved, secure, and inspired to learn. As Director and founder of Lois Campbell & Yates Daycare (LCDC), she combines the warmth of a family environment with the structure of an excellent educational program.
Janet began her journey in education as a classroom teacher in the Bronx, where she quickly became known for her ability to connect deeply with young children and families. Over the years, she has expanded LCDC into multiple high-quality childcare centers that prioritize safety, inclusion, and excellence.
“Every child deserves to feel special, safe, and celebrated. My role isn’t just to oversee classrooms — it’s to ensure that every family feels welcomed and every child feels loved. When children feel secure and valued, they become confident, curious learners.”
Janet’s leadership style is both compassionate and visionary — blending structure with love. She takes pride in mentoring her teachers, supporting parents, and maintaining transparent communication across every level of the program.
When she’s not at the daycare, Janet enjoys reading, journaling, and spending time with her husband and children. Her perspective as a mother gives her a deep appreciation for the trust families place in her team every day.
"Janet knows every child's name, their interests, and their families. She creates an atmosphere where you know your child is truly cared for as an individual."
At Lois Campbell & Yates Daycare, we believe every child is uniquely created with their own rhythm, strengths, and interests. Our classrooms are vibrant spaces where play and discovery lead the way to lifelong learning
1. Play-Based Learning
Children learn best when they’re actively engaged. Through art, music, movement, and sensory play, our students explore concepts in math, literacy, science, and social studies in meaningful, hands-on ways.
2. Individualized Development
Our teachers observe and adapt to each child’s pace. Whether a child is mastering fine-motor skills, learning new words, or forming friendships, our approach ensures no child is left behind.
3. Social-Emotional Learning
We teach empathy, kindness, and problem-solving every day. Through stories, role play, and guided reflection, children learn to understand their feelings and respond respectfully to others.
4. Family Partnership
Parents are our partners. We communicate daily through our Brightwheel app, share progress updates, and invite families to participate in events, projects, and celebrations.
5. Inclusive Environment
Diversity is our strength. LCDC welcomes children of all backgrounds and abilities, providing equitable support so every child can thrive.
6. School Readiness Through Life Skills
We prepare children not just for kindergarten — but for life. Through daily routines, independence training, and creative problem-solving, students develop confidence, self-regulation, and responsibility.
“Our goal is to prepare children academically, emotionally, and socially so they can enter school ready to shine.”
Every member of the LCDC family is carefully selected for their expertise, compassion, and dedication to early childhood education.
